We’re proud to introduce Version 1.0 of the whistlekick Open Tournament Ruleset — a style-neutral, easy-to-use framework for martial arts competitions.
After years of feedback, frustration, and firsthand experience running and attending events across the country, we saw an opportunity to offer something better: a free, modern ruleset designed to support fair, inclusive, and referee-driven events, while still giving tournament hosts the flexibility to adapt it to their unique needs.
This isn’t about reinventing martial arts. It’s about clarity, consistency, and safety. We’ve learned from countless organizations, streamlined their lessons, and written rules that are easy to read and enforce.
Highlights include:
-
Clear guidelines for point sparring, forms, weapons, and general procedures
-
Thoughtful detail on scoring, fouls, and protest protocol
-
Clean formatting and fully transparent language
-
Royalty-free usage — just credit us
It’s another way we're giving back to the martial arts community we love — one that deserves transparency and unity, not confusion and division. We invite you to explore the document, adapt it to your specific events, and share your thoughts with us.
