We've been talking about our martial arts consulting offering for a little while now. Why? Because it's a big deal for us - and it's a big deal for the various dojos/dojangs/etc. that we're helping. We will continue to offer this service, as well as the various complementary offerings we provide, because it's simply the right thing to do.
All MA schools deserve to be successful, but not all of them have the skills to get there. We won't be able to help everyone with that, I know that full well. But it doesn't mean we can't try. Martial arts makes us all better, and the consulting work we do makes schools better.
All Martial Arts Consulting Services are not the Same
That statement seems obvious, doesn't it? "All martial arts consulting services are not the same." Just as all instructors are not the same, all schools are not the same. Even students within the same school are different. Because people are involved.
People are incredibly complex, and with complexity comes a wealth of differences. Now, this is where you might think I'm going to make thinly-veiled comments about other martial arts consultants. Nope, not a chance.
Just as I wouldn't advise any business, of martial artists or not, to disparage their "competition," we've never done that. Won't do that. We don't need to, because there's more than enough work to go around. Our competition isn't the other consulting firm, it's the school out there, struggling, that would benefit from our help that isn't using us (or anyone else.)
Because people are different, they're looking for different things. We're at a place in this industry where schools have plenty of options. All I can advise is that you do your research, understand your needs, and choose the consulting firm that works best for you. I hope that's whistlekick, but it might not be. And I'm OK with that.
Taekwondo School Consulting (or Karate School Consulting, etc.) Can Make a Huge Impact
Regardless of the industry, a good consultant can be a massively impactful addition. Good consultants pay for themselves. Great consultants do so in a way that has clients begging for more of their time; to give them even more money. Yes, we have that happen, and it's the absolute best feeling.
We're often asked "Is whistlekick a karate company? A taekwondo company?" Which is why I expect we're going to get similar questions about consulting, as we grow. "Do you offer taekwondo school consulting? Karate school consulting?" Most of what we do is style agnostic, but having an understanding of different styles and what makes them different can be relevant. We work hard to understand our clients - on all levels. That includes what they teach.
I'm Proud of our Martial Arts School Consulting
I'm immensely proud of the work we've done in the last decade. I'm just as proud of our martial arts school consulting work over the last few years. We'll continue to grow, expand our offerings, and find ways to deliver overwhelming value to our friends, clients, and anyone else part of the whistlekick Family.
