Do you own any sparring gear in your collection? Do you use them during training? Are you aware of the possible risks you might get when you don’t use this equipment? Are you aware of how important these things are to protect yourself and avoid getting injuries while training? Let’s find out.

Warm-up and Cooldown

As martial artists, training is a very important part of our routine. In line with this, warm-up and cool-down is an essential part of the training we do on a daily basis.

Proper warm-up and cool-down can help your body adjust and prepare for the workout session you’re going to do. A good warm-up should last for 5 to 10 minutes with routines focused on a range of motions to keep your muscles well-supplied with oxygen before you do extreme workout physical activity.

On the other hand, cooling down is how you wrap up your training session by having a 5 to 10 minutes sequence of slow movements to allow your body to “cool down” and return to its normal heart rate and breathing.

Mouthguard

During competitions, sparring, or training, dental injuries are most likely to happen. Having your own mouthguard can help only to protect your face but also minimize the risk of injuries to your mouth, lips, tongue, or jaw.

There are so many websites or shops online that sell mouthguards and having one will truly benefit you.

Groin guard

When training, a groin guard is important and it doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman. There are groin guards available for a man or a woman and it is one of the most vital pieces of protective equipment.

A groin guard is created to protect the martial artist from unintentional strikes that might occur during a match.

Gloves

Gloves are the most common protection that is used to protect yourself against an injury. There are different kinds of gloves used depending on the martial art you are in. Using the wrong gear during training or actual sparring might result in a hand injury.

So it is critical to make sure your gloves are of good quality and meet your needs. It's a good idea to have a trainer assess your ability and skill level so you can figure out what kind of gloves are appropriate for your goals not only to protect yourself but your opponent as well from having serious injuries.

Avoid Fighting when Injured

Just like any sport, being in the field of martial arts means taking care of your body physically and mentally. Rest and recovery principle is very important as your body adjusts and heals itself in preparation for your next fight.
