2016 IPPONE Kickoff and Awards Banquet
Posted by Shopify Post Author on
We were in Boxboro, Massachusetts this past weekend for the annual IPPONE Kickoff tournament and IPPONE / Twin State awards banquet. This was our third consecutive year at the tournament but only our first at the banquet. The entire weekend was a lot of fun. We debuted two new products that haven't even hit the website yet. (Expect them soon). The first is KickStrap - a small extension strap for your sparring boots that allows you to wrap the strap around your boot twice. It comes in different sizes so you can be assured of a snug fit - or...

2015 Push-up Challenge - Year in Review

2015 was the first full year of the whistlekick 60-Second Push-Up Challenge, our free event that we offer at martial arts competitions and other events. In June we raised the stakes, offering rankings and tracking every push-up done, with the promise of awarding prizes to the year's champions. With our last event for the year in the books, we've decided to look back at some of the numbers and we thought we'd share them with you. We had 166 different people participate 201 times in the Push-Up Challenge starting with June's Friendship Tournament in Gorham, Maine. Of those people participating...
2015 Kidament

Last Saturday we were at a small but fun event in Hyde Park, Vermont. The Annual Kidament, hosted by Dunlavey's Black Belt Academy, is a children's-only martial arts tournament with a focus on education and fun. This was our second year attending. The event only lasted a few hours, but there were quite a few competitors from all over the area. Everyone had fun, but that's the goal of any event. The Kidament takes the typical divisions but adds in a lot of other excitement - foam-noodle sword fights, for example. We debuted a few new items over the last...
2015 SMART Championship

Last Saturday we were at it again, this time for our second to last event of 2015. Back in Waterville, Maine, again, but this time for the invite-only SMART Championship. SMART is the Maine martial arts circuit and we've really had a good time at these events. Personally, I grew up in Maine so some of these are events I attended years ago, which makes attending that much more enjoyable. As this was invitation only, the event was smaller than an open tournament. The top four point scorers in each division were given an invitation to participate and the winner...
